Tourist Attractions in the Region

Cape Coast, the capital of the Central Region, is just about a 2-hour drive west of Accra. The region is famous for its ancient forts and castles, beautiful coconut palm shaded beaches and for a peculiar elegance of attitude which is recorded and celebrated in literature. Apart from Cape Coast, Elmina is the next well-known destination for tourists. However, the Region is rich in other fascinating historic places such as Anomabu, Abandze, Komenda and Moree.

Castles and forts

Along the coast of the region are historical landmarks that depicted the presence of our colonial masters.These landmarks are forts and castles that have been built by the European traders and rulers. Among these are the famous Cape Coast Castle, the Elmina Castle and Fort. More

Natural Attractions

The Region is also famous for its palm-fringed beaches, its mostly popular with beach and surfer lovers. The Region can boost of one of Africas foremost nature reserve. With one of the two walkway canopies in Africa located here at the kakum national park. More

 

Festivals and Cultural events in the Region

The Region's culture is depicted through its many exciting festivals which are held throughout the year. Some of the best known festivals are 'Bakatue', literally the opening up of Benya Lagoon. more
